OpenLDAP
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a type of database system used for storing large quantities of data which are more frequently read than written. OpenLDAP is an Open Source implementatino of this protocol. OpenLDAP is very efficient at storing data about people and organisations. This makes it ideal as a store for client data or for use as an authentication database for networked organisations.
